ILJU Terms of Use

Last updated: September 10, 2026

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and 87Lab (“we”, “us”) about your use of the ILJU mobile application and any related services (together, the “App”). By downloading, opening, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

See also our Privacy Policy.

1. Who may use the App

The App is intended for adults aged 18 or over. Do not use the App if you are under 18. We do not knowingly provide the App to children.

2. What the App is

The App calculates a chart from birth details that you enter, using the traditional Korean and East Asian practice known as saju or Four Pillars, and produces written readings about that chart. The chart is calculated by our own software. The readings are written by an artificial intelligence model.

The App does not make you sign up. Your chart, your readings, and your in-app balance are kept on your device, and the App also keeps a copy of them in an account on our server so they survive a reinstall or a new phone. Section 5a describes that account, the optional sign-in you can add to it, and how to delete it. What the copy contains is described in our Privacy Policy.

3. Your birth details

You choose what to enter. Enter only birth details you are entitled to enter. If you save details for another person, you confirm that you have their permission to do so, and you are responsible for that use. How we handle these details is described in our Privacy Policy.

4. No advice

ILJU is an entertainment and self-reflection app based on the traditional Korean and East Asian practice of saju, also known as Four Pillars. Its readings are written by an AI model from a chart calculated from the birth details you enter.

Readings are not statements of fact and not predictions. They are not professional advice of any kind.

Health and medical. ILJU does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical or mental health condition. Nothing in a reading is a substitute for care from a qualified health professional. Never delay seeking care, and never start, stop, or change any medication or treatment, because of anything you read here.

Money. ILJU does not provide financial, investment, tax, or accounting advice, and is not a licensed adviser in any jurisdiction. Do not make investment, borrowing, employment, or business decisions based on a reading.

Legal. ILJU does not provide legal advice and is not a law firm. Do not make decisions about contracts, disputes, family matters, or immigration based on a reading.

Safety. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, please contact your local emergency number or a crisis line in your country right now. ILJU cannot help with this and is not designed to.

For any decision that matters, speak to a qualified professional. Any reliance you place on a reading is at your own risk.

5. Smile units

The App uses an in-app unit called “smile”. Units are a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to access features inside the App. They are not money, not a stored value or payment instrument, and not property. They have no value outside the App and cannot be sold, traded, transferred, or exchanged for cash or anything else.

Smiles you buy never expire. Smiles you earn by watching a rewarded advertisement are good until midnight on the day you earn them. Other smiles do not expire.

You can obtain units by using the App, including by watching optional rewarded advertisements and by returning on consecutive days, subject to daily limits we set and may change. You can also buy them, as section 8 describes.

If you clear your data in the App, any remaining units are gone. If you delete the App, we can restore your units on a new installation only if you added a sign-in before deleting the App, as described in section 5a. Without that sign-in, there is nothing that ties the copy on our server to you, and the units cannot be recovered. If you delete your account, the units go with it, including any you bought, and cannot be restored by anyone.

5a. Your account

The App creates an account for you without asking, using a random key generated on your device, so that your chart, your balance, and the readings you unlocked can be restored. You do not choose a password for that.

You may add a sign-in to that account, by connecting a Google account, by signing in with your Apple ID on an iPhone, or by choosing an email address and a password. It is optional, it unlocks nothing, and the only thing it changes is that we can then recognise you on a different phone. If you do not add one, the copy on our server can be reached only from the device holding the key. If you set a password, keep it to yourself: what is done through your sign-in is your responsibility, and we hold only a one-way hash of the password, never the password itself. This version has no password reset. If you forget yours, write to us.

You can delete the account and everything stored under it at any time, from inside the App or from ilju-app.vercel.app/delete/. Deletion is immediate and permanent. It removes your profile, your balance, your unlock history, and the readings we stored for you, and it disconnects any sign-in you added, taking the email address and the password hash with it where you had set one. We cannot undo it and we cannot recover anything afterwards. Receipts for purchases are kept, for the reasons our Privacy Policy gives. Deleting the App from your phone is not the same thing: it clears the phone and leaves the server copy alone.

You are responsible for what you enter into your account, including birth details you save for another person. See section 3.

6. Advertisements

Where your version of the App offers rewarded advertisements, they are optional and are supplied through Unity LevelPlay, which serves ads from several advertising networks. You choose whether to watch one. We do not control the content of the advertisements. Watching an advertisement is never required to use the free parts of the App.

7. Readings, delivery, and units returned

A reading is generated when you open it, and the unit is deducted before the reading is requested. Because of that, these rules apply and they are what the App actually does:

  1. Reading delivered. The unit is used. This is true whether or not the reading meets your expectations, and it is true where the App delivers a shortened reading because our own content checks replaced part of the text. A shortened reading is still a delivered reading.
  2. The request failed. If the request could not be completed, or completed but returned no reading, the unit is returned to you in the same form you spent it.
  3. You left while waiting. If you cancel or leave the loading screen before the reading arrives, the unit is returned to you in the same form you spent it. The reading, if it arrives afterwards, is discarded.
  4. No birth details. Nothing is requested and nothing is deducted.

Units returned under (b) or (c) are returned automatically. You do not need to ask us.

8. Purchases

The App sells packs of the units described in section 5, and a membership. Both are sold through the store your phone buys from, Apple’s App Store on an iPhone and Google Play on Android, at the price shown there, under that store’s payment terms and refund policy. The store takes the payment, and we never see your card. What we receive is the receipt that store issues, which our server checks with that same store before anything is credited. A purchase the store does not confirm is not credited.

Units you buy are units under section 5: they have no value outside the App and they go with your account if you delete it. Membership is a subscription that renews until you cancel it. What it includes is shown on the screen where you start it. You cancel it where the store keeps your subscriptions, in your Apple ID settings or in your Google Play subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and the membership runs to the end of the period you have already paid for. Prices may change, and a change does not affect a period you have already paid for. Restore purchases, in the App’s Settings, asks that store again about what you own.

Refunds are handled by the store you bought from, under its refund policy. We keep a record of each purchase, as our Privacy Policy describes, so that we can credit it once and answer a refund dispute.

9. Things you must not do

Do not: use the App for any unlawful purpose; try to access our servers or systems other than through the App; use automated tools to send requests to our service; reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract our prompts, model inputs, or content; copy, republish, or resell readings at scale or as a service; or use the App to give medical, financial, or legal advice to anyone else.

We set request limits per user to keep the service available. Attempting to work around them is a breach of these Terms.

10. Intellectual property

The App, its software, its design, its written content, and the ILJU name are owned by us or our licensors. These Terms give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App for your own personal, non-commercial use.

Readings generated for you are yours to read, keep, and share personally. You may not sell them or use them to operate a competing service.

11. Availability and changes

We may change, suspend, or discontinue the App or any part of it at any time. We may impose or change limits on features. We do not promise that the App will always be available, uninterrupted, or free of errors.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the App is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that any reading is accurate, complete, or suitable for any purpose.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the App or your reliance on any reading.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for all claims arising out of or in connection with the App is limited to the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us for the App in the twelve months before the claim, and (b) USD 50.

14. Your rights as a consumer

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any right you have under the mandatory consumer protection law of the country where you live, and nothing in sections 12 or 13 excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law. If any part of these Terms is unenforceable where you live, the rest still applies.

15. Ending your use

You can stop using the App at any time by deleting it, and you can delete the account and everything stored under it as described in section 5a. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms. Sections 4, 5, 10, 12, 13, 14, and 16 survive.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, and the courts of the Republic of Korea have jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence and you keep the protection of the mandatory law of that country under section 14.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top. If the change is material, we will tell you in the App before it takes effect. Continuing to use the App after that means you accept the updated Terms.
